09/10/09 DC Anti Trafficking Task Force Night at Nationals Park

Join FAIR Fund and all of our partners of the DC Anti Trafficking Task Force for a fun night with the DC Nationals. On September 10th from 7:00 to 10:00, the DC Nationals have given all of us amazingly low discounted tickets for only $7. We want 500 people to fill the stands wearing our specially discounted blue and yellow anti trafficking jersey tee shirts. 09/14/09 Lilya 4ever Showing at New Deal Cafe’s “Meal and Real”

In 2008, actress Gabrielle Christian traveled with FAIR Fund director, Andrea Powell, to Belgrade, Serbia to begin a documentary film on the lives of young women survivors of human trafficking. Gabrielle and Andrea will share their experiences after this gripping film.

It was a night of fun, fashion, and fundraising for FAIR Fund at Betsey Johnson’s in Georgetown on Wednesday, July 15. 05/07/09 3rd Annual Signature Event, Pearls of Purpose 2009

FAIR Fund’s third annual Signature Event, Pearls of Purpose, featured the first ever Pearl Award presented to Representative Shelia Jackson-Lee (D-TX) and special remarks by Kenneth B. Morris, Jr., founder and president of the Fredrick Douglass Family Foundation. The evening’s sponsors included Boies, Schiller, & Flexner, LLP, the Embassies of Algeria, Austria, Cyprus, Japan, Lichtenstein, and Morocco, Biagio Fine Chocolate,  Eleven Hearts Photography, Rosemary’s Thyme Bistro and Science Club.
At Pearls of Purpose, patrons bided on high-quality merchandise in a live auction of jewelry, handbags, gift certificates, and much more from FAIR Fund’s sponsors, including Anne Walsh Salon, Betsy Johnson, Café Citron, Christian Dior, Cartier, levelone, Napoleon Bistro and Lounge, Papers to Pearls and Vranken Pommery Monopole.
The evening also featured a silent auction of original and meaningful handcrafted jewelry created young women and girl participants of FAIR Fund’s program, JewelGirls.

11/13/08, 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Washington, D.C..  The special Screening of Very Young Girls depicts the realities of sex trafficking in the U.S. with moving footage and searing testimonies.  The film screening will be followed with a short question and answer session led by GEMS founder, formerly sexually exploited youth- turn-activist, Rachel Lloyd.  The film is co-sponsored by FAIR Fund, Polaris Project, Sasha Bruce, and Weave.  

11/18/08, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Washington D.C.:  Special Event: Teen Pathways Into & Out of Commercial Sexual Exploitation in Washington, D.C Join FAIR Fund, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the Washington Area Women's Foundation for an evening reception to learn about the commercial sexual exploitation of children in D.C.  The evening will share preliminary information from the Pathways study funded by the Justice Department, about how youth are lured into and escape the sex trade, awards for local police, teachers, and social workers helping D.C. teens, advocacy for the D.C. 11/30/08, Washington, D.C.: Honey Brown Eyes Premier. Join FAIR Fund and the D.C. Jewish Community Center (DC JCC) for the premier of "Honey Brown Eyes," a theatre production highlighting the struggles of Bosian women and children after the war. A special panel featuring FAIR Fund's Executive Director, Andrea Powell, will follow.

The program supports young women in the arts and will highlight FAIR Fund's JewelGirls program.
